A Masquerade 25th Birthday

My not-so-little, little sister turned the big 2-5 last year. A whole quarter of the century. Actually, it has almost been an entire year since her last birthday. In just one month, she will be 26! Eek!

Anyway, she was all grown up, that’s for sure. Because of that, we wanted her bash to be extra special. I recruited the help of my sister-in-law, Annie, and, of course, my husband got volun-told to run just a couple of errands. Just a few, I promise. Little ones. Honestly, where would I be without him?

The first thing we did was frantically ask my best friend, Pinterest, for some ideas. And, boy, did she give us some good ones.

We discovered so many fabulous ideas that we started to get a little overwhelmed. After a few days, though, we narrowed down our options. Marie finally decided that she wanted a masquerade slash Great Gatsby affair, and honestly, I was all about that. Not only do I enjoy the works of F. Scott Fitzgerald, but I fell in love with the movie, too. Love. Love. Love.

We finally decided on the colors: blush, black, and gold. So pretty. And then, we went shopping and got everything ready for her swanky soirĂ©e. It was such an enjoyable time spent with amazing family members and friends. All the girls had on their cutest, flashiest dresses. And, the boys were… just... boys.

I created the black, pink, and gold prints we used for the party. I found some quotes from the Internet and typed them up in a pretty font. We placed them in dollar store gold frames to give them that rich feel and spread them around the house.

Speaking of signs, I also used some of the chalkboards I had laying around the house and dolled them up. One was placed outside on the front porch to greet guests as they entered (and to give them that extra nudge of encouragement). The other was hanging on a wall by the kitchen. Blush, black, and clear balloons filled with confetti were placed around it to give it a little more interest.

The blush, black, and gold coordinated dessert table was definitely the focal point of the party. It held Marie’s amazing two-layer cake created by a talented baker in our area, Sweet Creations by Sharon. She did our wedding cake, and we had no complaints about either one of them!

We originally wanted a black and white striped runner for the table, but that was an idea that failed miserably. So, we quickly found this lovely gold sequin runner at Etsy. And, it couldn’t have been more perfect.

Marie wanted guests to leave with a champagne favor and a darling paper straw. Such a cute (and delicious) idea.

Her gorgeous blush dress with coordinating rose gold mask was such a hit. She looked like a decoration at her own party!
